MY PLEDGES

Here's what I said to the Ponty Observer before the election:-

Doug fighting for the future at local election

LIFELONG Pontypridd resident Doug Williams will be fighting to retain the vacant Glyncoch seat for Labour on December 18.

Mr Williams, of Westfield Road, has lived in Glyncoch for 40 years. He is married to Carol and has two children and six grand children.

He started his working life in local government with the former Pontypridd Urban District Council, then worked in private industry, next joined Taff Ely and transferred to Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council in 1996 on reorganisation and recently retired from its Legal and Democratic Services Division.

He has been actively involved in charity work on the estate for many years and was a member of Pendyrus Male Voice Choir for over thirty years.

He said: “I feel I have a vested interest in the future of this community, not just because I have lived here for so long, but because both my children and grandchildren live here too.

“I think the role of councillor is such an important one that it warrants 100% of my attention.

“I want a major review of the traffic calming measures on the estate.

“I look forward to working with the police to combat all aspects of social disorder including the danger of scrambler motor-bikes that currently blight the lives of so many.

“In the medium term I will campaign within the ruling Labour group for more resources to be made available to Glyncoch to enable a regeneration of the facilities that the community need to take it forward in the twenty first century – like a new Community Centre, preferably named after my predecessor the late Labour councillor and my personal friend, Judith Burford.”
